Royal Canoe's digital live EP, Glacial, is available now.
This January, Royal Canoe decided to embrace their home-town of Winnipeg as one of the coldest cities on Planet Earth. They concocted what on the surface seems, like an insane idea - particularly in the dead of winter: to play a free outdoor show at The Forks, on the shore of the Red River for a few thousand people.
Royal Canoe’s live five-song EP documents this remarkable event. The culmination of months of planning and artistic collaboration, this event was a truly unique synthesis of music, architecture, and light. Working with ice master Luca Roncoroni, all of the sounds employed, both live and sampled, were created with handcrafted ice-truments designed for this singular occasion.
