PISS announces their debut album you made me / skin on linen with Paper Bag Records!
PISS is a noisy, genre-bending four-piece band from Vancouver, B.C. Combining punk, poetry, sound collage, performance art, and visual art, the band creates a multidisciplinary body of work that blurs the line between person and political.
Powered by thoughtful musicianship, energetic live performances, and a crystal-clear artistic mission, PISS writes punk music that aims to transcend the limitations of a well-established genre. Their work draws inspiration from a range of unexpected influences: literary giants, philosophers, filmmakers, painters, psychoanalysts, activists, children, members of a German anarcho-feminist militant group, and conversations with audience members. These voices represent varying ideological beliefs about gender-based violence and enable PISS to create art that depicts challenging and controversial issues such as sexual violence and enculturated gender norms without reduction, romanticization, polemics, or dogmatism.

A statement from lead vocalist Tay:
As part of our album rollout, we’re partnering with autonomous spaces, anarchist info shops, lending libraries, and collectively-run, radical, or feminist record/bookstores in North America to distribute free records, CDs, and tapes :~)
For the next two months (September 2nd - October 30) you can purchase an additional copy of you made me / skin on linen to be donated to one of these spaces!
Here’s how you can donate a copy:
From there, you can donate a copy of the album on its own, or you'll have the option to add a donation copy to your pre-order of the album.
The donated copy will be sent to an organization in North America, which will then distribute it according to the unique needs of their community.
The purpose of this project is to increase the accessibility of physical copies of the record, but I also hope it will encourage anyone who enjoys our music to connect with other radicals in their area!
It is more important than ever to lean into offline, autonomous social spaces. We cannot build a real movement by communicating with tools built and controlled by the powers we aim to challenge!!!
Most people I’ve met at PISS shows are inclined toward liberatory politics in some way, and many of the conversations I’ve had with you all have featured recurring sentiments:
“I feel powerless to change anything”
“I don’t know where to begin”
But you are not powerless!! And it is much easier than you think to begin to change things.
Here is a list of radical organizations around the world: https://slingshotcollective.org/radical-contact-list/
Look for your city, visit one of the spaces listed, and you will find like-minded orgs already working to build a better world. And they are looking for people just like you!!
With love,
Tay (from PISS) <3
